Differences between XM’s Three Account Types
The differences between the Standard, Micro, and Zero Account types are trade size, spreads and transaction fees, and the names of the stocks.
Different Trade Size of 1 Lot for Different Accounts
Micro Accounts have a smaller trade size per lot than Standard and Zero Accounts. The Micro Accounts are designed for small trades, and the minimum and maximum trade sizes are also smaller than those of the Standard and Zero Accounts.

Different Spreads and Transaction Fees for Different Accounts
Different account types have different fees such as spreads and transaction fees. Standard and Micro Accounts have the same commissions, while Zero Accounts have a thinner spread than those two.
Different Names of the Stocks for Different Accounts
The names of the stocks are different for Standard, Micro, and Zero Accounts.
Standard Accounts show only the name of the stock, Micro Accounts show the stock with a micro notation, and Zero Accounts show the stock with a period notation. Please note that you will not be able to trade in the Micro and Zero Account, although the stocks in the Standard Account will be displayed.

Common Features of All XM Account Types
Adopted Negative Balance Protection for All Accounts
XM has adopted the Negative Balance Protection for all account types, including Standard, Micro, and Zero Accounts. The Negative Balance Protection means that customers will not be charged additional margin if losses exceed the account’s effective margin due to sudden price fluctuations. This is a service to protect customers’ assets, and XM bears the full amount of losses over the effective margin.

Stop Out Level of 20% for Effective Use of Margin
The Stop Out level of XM is set at 20%. This is one of the lowest among Forex Brokers, and it prevents the forex trader from forcibly closing the position. With high leverage and a low Stop Out level of 20%, you can make the best use of your deposited margin.
Stop Out level will be enabled if losses exceed a certain level. The Stop Out level is determined based on the margin maintenance ratio of the account (Available Margin divided by Margin Requirement multiplied by 100).
Trade Forex, Commodities, Equity Indices, Precious Metals, Energies, and Shares
All account types can trade six types of instruments offered by XM: Forex Trading, Commodities, Equity Indices, Precious Metals, Energies, and Shares. There are over 55 Forex currency pairs, 8 Commodities, 24 Equity Indices, 4 Precious Metals, and 5 Energies, allowing you to trade a wide variety of products. All trading instruments can be traded on the same trading platform (MT4/MT5).

How to Choose an XM Account Type
XM’s three account types include Standard, Micro, and Zero accounts. They have almost identical trading conditions except for the amount of currency per lot. Zero accounts have significantly different trading conditions, including spreads.
Which Account Type Should I Choose?
The account type that is suitable for you depends on your trading style. Depending on your investment capital, experience, and trading methods, you can choose from three account types: Standard, Micro, and Zero Account.

CASE 1:I want to start overseas Forex with a small investment.
If you would like to experience overseas Forex with a small amount of capital at first, we recommend Micro Account. Compared to Standard and the Zero Account, the Micro Account has a lower amount of currency per lot, allowing you to trade with a smaller volume per trade.
The Micro Account is the only one of XM’s three account types that allows you to trade in 1,000 currencies or less. The minimum deposit for all three account types has been lowered to the equivalent of $5 to allow first-time traders to trade risk-free. Even with a Micro Account, you can trade up to 100,000 currencies per position (100 lots for a Micro Account), making it possible for customers to set up lots for small to medium positions.
CASE 2:I want to trade by scalping or high-speed trading.
If you are looking for scalping or high-speed trading, Zero Account is for you. The Zero Account offers very thin spreads with a minimum of 0 pips. There is an additional external fee.
Scalping is a method of accumulating small profits by trading in a short period, from a few seconds to a few minutes. Since the amount of profit per trade is smaller than that of day trading, in which a position is held for several hours, or swing trading, in which a trade is held for a longer period, the lower the spread, the higher the profit.
The Zero Account is a special type of account for short-term trading with a particularly thin spread compared to Standard and Micro Account. The 0 pips spread is most suitable for trading with small profit margins, especially during periods of high liquidity and frequent trading. In August 2021, the minimum deposit amount will be significantly reduced from $100 to $5, making it even easier to trade.

How to Change an XM Account Type
XM does not allow you to change your account type after opening an account. However, each customer is allowed to have up to ten accounts, so you can open additional accounts of the account type you want. Even if the total number of accounts is ten, you can open a new additional account by closing the account in the Members Area.

What Is an Additional Account?
An additional account means that a customer who already has an account with XM can open another account with a different account type, trading tools, etc. Opening an additional account can be done in a few minutes from the Members Area.
For additional accounts, you can select not only the account type, but also the trading platform type and five other options to open an account with your desired conditions.
